Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a novel written in 1865 by the English mathematician and deacon Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, with his pen name Lewis Carroll.
Alice’s journey through Wonderland, reminisced at the beginning of the show, is just a distant memory. The staging adaptation does not imitate Carroll’s tale, but it takes place in a sort of imaginary future where Alice, an adult now, has forgotten her childhood.
The famous characters in the book – the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter – who still live in that world, ask about her, look for her desperately, see her everywhere, even among the children in the audience… but she is not there. Only at the end, a grown-up Alice is invited by the Caterpillar to go back to Wonderland.
An oneiric and surreal journey that involves and amuses children and adults, too, inviting them to rediscover their childhood.
